I know that all of us would agree that our Church is our sanctuary to honor and worship God and to be filled with meat to help us deal with this world that we live in. God gives us strength and teaching, in the church, to be able to do his Will in spreading the Gospel to the uttermost parts of the Earth.

But somehow we are easily drawn to believe that fellowship, though important as it is, is the main reason why we go to church. If the church does not have hundreds of “programs” then it is not believed to be a good church. Whatever happened to good old time Gospel preaching where kids went to Children’s Church in the morning and were taught to sit quietly and listen to the Pastor preaching at night/Wednesday. Families are drawn to constant social events in order to appease their social cravings.

I am disappointed in seeing huge billboards that read “We are a church for today, we accept anyone and any life style because God loves everyone.” God does not accept anything in His Church. Paul wrote many letters to the Churches saying exactly this. I think it also stems back to people wanting that Social Craving and wanting to pull in those big crowds and money.

Lord, help me to prepare my heart each time I enter your House to focus on what is really important… You!
